A minimum of once a year; twice a year or more if you use it daily!
Should I clean my bike before bringing it to you?
It is much easier to service a clean bike, mainly because I can see the components! If you want me to degrease and clean your bike before servicing or repairing it, just ask. This will add to the overall cost, but you may feel it is worth it.
