FAQs
How often should I have my bike checked and serviced?
I recommend that you have your bike inspected and serviced at least once a year. However if you use it daily or most days, then twice a year would be better. High mileage bikes may need to be inspected more frequently, particularly if used through the winter months.
Should I clean my bike before bringing to you?
You will save money if your bike is clean when you bring it. I am happy to degrease and clean it for you – I will simply add the time taken to the overall charge. Typically, a thorough degrease and clean can add up to £20.
How much do you charge?
The charge is simply the time spent on your bike (labour charge), plus the cost of any parts and consumables. Please see “Service” for examples.
Do you use genuine parts?
I recommend original-equipment genuine parts, especially on safety-critical components like brakes. Items like chains, gear cassettes and chainrings tend to work more harmoniously together if they are all from the same manufacturer. However, savings can be made with many after-market high quality items available. We can discuss your preferences when you bring your bike in.
Can I buy new spare parts from you?
I hold a small stock of service items (brake pads, inner tubes and tyres, etc.). Main components like brakes, gears, wheels etc. will need to be ordered.
